The Technical Center is planning its 50th Anniversary celebration. The Technical Center (formerly the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center, NAFEC) will turn “50” on July 1, 2008, and a celebration at the Technical Center on that date is being planned.

An anniversary committee has been organized and is working to locate veterans who served at the former Naval Air Station Atlantic City (NASAC), along with NAFEC and Technical Center retirees. Technical Center Director Dr. Wilson Felder, and Atlantic Heritage Center President, Richard Squires, recently took the local media on a tour of the old Navy base, which is where the Air National Guard resides today, to discuss anniversary plans and to initiate outreach efforts to former station veterans.

Two banquets, one in early 2008 and one in late 2008, and other 50th anniversary events are being planned. The committee hopes to include as many veterans and retires as possible in these events.

Veterans who served at the Naval Air Station Atlantic City may call 609-485-5555 to be placed on a mailing list, or e-mail: 9-ACT-NASAC@faa.gov and provide their names and telephone numbers. FAA and National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC) retirees may call 609-485-6999 or e-mail: 9-ACT-NAFEC@faa.gov to be placed on the mailing list for anniversary activity updates.
General questions about 50th anniversary events can be directed to Stan Ciurczak, the program manager for the 50th anniversary, at extension 5-4789 or by e-mail at stan.ciurczak@faa.gov.
