This article is the first
in a series of three that will highlight
the many individuals at the Technical Center who have shared their thoughts, creative
thinking and technical expertise with the world by becoming published. Part
one is highlighting ACB-330, Conflict Probe Assessment Team (CPAT). In an interview with
Mike Paglione, CPAT lead, he indicated that
having a white paper accepted and being chosen to present at conferences
is a significant goal that his team hopes to achieve. As you read this article, you will see ACB-330’s untiring efforts as a team in the world of
publications. Under the Simulation and Analysis Group (ACB-330), the CPAT is a small team of engineers, computer scientists, and air traffic subject matter specialists who are responsible for performing technical analyses and building traffic scenarios for the Free Flight Program Office. CPAT was organized in 1996 to perform an independent assessment of the User Request Evaluation Tool (URET) algorithms. Since then, the team has conducted projects on both the URET and Center TRACON Automation System (CTAS) programs. For example, the team supported the deployment of the URET Core Capability Limited Deployment (CCLD) system by developing the input traffic scenarios and the accuracy specifications for the URET CCLD Formal Accuracy Test. Currently, CPAT is providing government furnished test data for new URETdeployment sites and supporting the development of an operations concept for the CTAS tool, Direct-To. The team is also active in producing technical publications. Over the years, the team has had papers published in or presented at national conferences. These include:
The team has also
authored several FAA Technical notes and reports.
