The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, with the assistance of the William J. Hughes Technical Center's Community Outreach Program, held its 28th annual Jersey Shore Science Fair on Saturday, March 22. The Science Fair, which was held in the college’s Sports Center, hosted 407 science projects.

Competing for awards in 14 categories, ranging from biochemistry to zoology, were 468 students, grades six through 12th, from nearly 30 schools in Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean and Monmouth counties.  The participants also had the opportunity to compete for scholarships provided by several local organizations, as well as a chance to go on to the Delaware Valley Science Fair held April 1–3 at the Fort Washington EXPO Center, west of Philadelphia.

The Richard Stockton College, represented by Dean Dennis Weiss of the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics, and the Technical Center, represented by Jersey Shore Science Fair Director Cathy Jaggard and assisted by Mary Lou Dordan, ACH, combined their efforts to make this year’s science fair a smashing success.  More than 63 dedicated, hard-working teachers assisted this year’s student entrants with their science projects. Over 90 volunteer judges from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, were present to examine and evaluate this year’s projects.
